Serge Hill

We are currently working on our first collaboration with the very talented Emily Erlam Studio. As part of this collaboration we went on a very inspiring studio trip to The Serge Hill Project with the project landscape collaborators.

Located in Hertfordshire, the site serves as a project for gardening, creativity and health and is a community interest company set up by Tom Stuart-Smith and Sue Stauart-smith.

The Apple House sits at the heart of the Orchard, built from almost exclusively natural materials from the ground up, from the oak cladding to the hempcrete walls. Surrounding this lies the Plant Library at the projects heart is home to 1500 different varieties of mainly herbaceous plants, which we were lucky enough to walk through and study with the help of our landscape friends.

We look forward to the development of the library as an educational resource and this information becoming publicly accessible in the near future.

It was a great day out and a perfect opportunity to see some real-life samples of bits soon to come in future projects.
