Our Space - Macclesfield

YOUTH FEDERATION

Macclesfield had provision for young people in the past through a building called the Fermain Club. It started in 1938 and evolved into Macclesfield Boy’s Club in 1964. Sadly the original building was demolished.

The site has transferred to Youth Fed, to deliver youth facilities. Mowat & Company have been working with them to design a new building.

The original Fermain Boy’s Club founded in 1938 to encourage sport and personal growth for the young males of Britain.

The new building is located on the Northern boundary and curves to focus attention on the sports area.

I just wanted to say how thrilled I was to see the ‘final’ design and how Inspired I was to imagine it open and full of young people.

I am also grateful for the huge amount of work that everyone is putting into this process and how reassured I am that we are getting there.”

The building has a floating timber roof engineered by HTS.

The plan of the building orientates views and full height openings to the sunshine and the landscape.

A planning application has been submitted and a fundraising team has been set up to raise finance for the building and the landscape.

It is vital that the application and the future generations Macclefield gets recognised in the form of letters of support to the Council.
