The Unicorn Brewery
Frederic Robinson Ltd
A family brewery needed our help to become a leading visitor attraction and active training facility.
Our purpose was to create a visitor centre that housed a permanent exhibition which explored the company’s history, pubs and brewing process, along with new conference, training and entertaining facilities.
The design approach was to reflect the heritage of the building with exposed steelwork and curate a welcoming environment with warm, natural materials such as European oak and copper.
The old brewing equipment using traditional techniques was repurposed as a display into the exhibition hall.
“It is always a pleasure to collaborate with Alex and his highly skilled team at Mowat & Co. Our association spans over 10 years, a term within which you truly get to experience an individual’s capabilities. Alex’s understanding and approach to design always unearths surprise and excellence. His knowledge of people, spaces and materials always seem to form into a marriage of outstanding solutions that are beyond beautiful and exceed the client’s expectations.”
The centre is now the leading tourist attraction in Stockport.
